Academic Standards

student in libraryThe highest standards in all areas of endeavor are expected from both students and teachers. The school expects students to establish a routine for doing homework and to be responsible in completing it.

Extensive written reports and regular conferences keep parents informed, so that parents and teachers can work closely together to monitor each childs progress. Letter grades are introduced in the upper grades, but teachers continue to expect that the motivation to excel comes from within.

There are no computers in a Waldorf elementary school classroom. Although computer literacy is an integral part of modern education, and the use of computers is nearly universal among our graduates, for elementary school children it is the actual relationship between students and teacher that brings understanding in a history or math lesson and cultivates a sense of individual initiative and participation.
