The Birth & Growth of a School 1971 - 1991:
The Recent Years
Growth since 1986 has included few structural changes; thus we have been focusing more inwardly,
strengthening our teacher body, the quality of our education, and the relations between faculty
and parents. A number of programs have evolved such as Physical Education, Summer Camp, a Music
program with two orchestras, a Resource program and a Development program that involves public
relations, fund raising and long range planning.
We have also become more aware of our facilities - our beautiful land and buildings
and the importance of properly maintaining them. In 1987, thanks to a study of the Buildings and
Grounds Committee and to Tom Jordan, we had a Renewal Campaign to insure the future health of the buildings.
Recently, we have upgraded the offices and hallway.
The Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School has become a model Waldorf school
that holds training programs where apprentices seek experience for their teaching degree.
